About the Role
Motability Operations are recruiting for a Tax Manager in Bristol on a full‑time, permanent basis. The role is part of the Financial Reporting & Tax team.
Core Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit Corporation Tax Returns and quarterly instalment payments.
- Prepare MO’s Pillar 2 returns to a high standard and submit on time (with external support as required).
- Calculate current and deferred taxes and prepare tax disclosures in MO’s Annual Report & Accounts, Half‑Year Report, monthly Management Accounts, and provide analysis of tax balance movements.
- Provide accurate, researched tax guidance, respond to ad‑hoc queries, and support change initiatives.
- Maintain an excellent relationship with HMRC, including MO’s HMRC CCM, and represent MO in annual Business Risk Review sessions.
- Support annual Senior Accounting Officer (SAO) certification and ensure timely submission.
- Update and publish MO’s Tax Strategy to deadline.
- Ensure MO’s VAT returns and PSA returns are accurate and submitted on time; manage VAT and PSA payments and recoveries.
- Provide top‑quality payroll tax guidance as needed.
- Provide tax training and guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain MO’s Tax Risk Control Framework and transfer‑pricing documentation.
- Proactively identify upcoming tax rule developments, assess impact, engage stakeholders, and implement timely responses.
- Assess impact of UK budgets on MO and communicate to stakeholders.
- Engage external tax consultants when required.
About You
Passionate and confident in producing accurate information within expected timescales, with a strong sense of personal responsibility and a welcoming approach to new ideas. Excellent time‑management, problem‑solving, communication, and people skills. Demonstrated experience communicating complex tax and financial information to diverse audiences.
Minimum Criteria
- Appropriate Accounting / Tax Accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, CIMA or equivalent) with significant post‑qualification experience.
- Demonstrable understanding of UK Corporation Tax & VAT.
- Strong analytical, mathematical and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in working with colleagues at all levels across the business.
- Excellent Microsoft Office suite skills with advanced MS Excel expertise.
