Are you a proven Construction Director or Senior Construction Leader ready to take ownership of multiple high-volume residential developments? Do you thrive on delivering quality homes safely, on programme, and within budget whilst building and leading high performing site teams?
As Construction Director, you will lead and inspire the Construction function across multiple developments in Yorkshire, ensuring projects are delivered efficiently, safely, profitably, and to the highest quality standards. This is a pivotal leadership role within the business, working closely with the Regional Managing Director and wider senior leadership team to influence strategy, drive operational excellence, and support the continued growth of the company. You will oversee Contract Managers, Site Managers, Assistant Site Managers and wider site teams, creating a culture focused on performance, accountability, safety, and quality.
Responsibilities
- Leading Construction Operations: Driving build programmes across multiple developments; ensuring sites are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and to exceptional quality standards; monitoring build performance, programme milestones, and operational efficiency; identifying and resolving critical path issues.
- Delivering Quality & Customer Satisfaction: Championing build quality across all developments; ensuring excellent NHBC audit performance; collaborating with Sales and Customer Service teams to enhance the customer journey; regularly visiting developments to maintain visibility and standards.
- Commercial & Strategic Leadership: Supporting business growth as part of the senior management team; managing budgets, build costs, WIP, and resource planning; working closely with Commercial teams on subcontractor and supplier performance; maximizing revenue opportunities through effective programme delivery.
- Building, Leading & Supporting High-Performing Teams: Recruiting, mentoring, and developing construction professionals; driving performance, accountability, and engagement across teams; supporting career development and succession planning; creating a culture where excellence is recognised and encouraged.
- Health & Safety Leadership: Leading from the front on Health & Safety compliance and culture; ensuring safe working practices across all sites and teams; collaborating with H&S teams to identify training and development needs; promoting a proactive approach to risk management and site safety.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong track record within residential housebuilding or construction leadership.
- Experience managing multiple live developments and site teams.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.
- Strong commercial awareness and budget management capability.
- Ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
- Proactive, solutions-focused mindset.
- Experience improving build quality and customer satisfaction.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Construction or management qualifications relevant to the role.
