Google Cloud Engineering Team Lead – London

Security & Eligibility

Offer of employment is subject to satisfactory BPSS and SC security clearance, requiring 5 years continuous UK address history (no periods of 30 consecutive days or more outside the UK at the point of application).

Responsibilities

• Lead a small team of Google Cloud / data engineers to deliver solutions for clients.
• Design, deploy, and operate secure Google Cloud solutions on client sites and internal references.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship, ensuring successful project delivery.
• Contribute to technical blueprints and designs using expertise in Google Cloud architecture.
• Lead the design of a Google Cloud component within a larger project.

Required Skills

• At least one Google Cloud Professional level certification.
• Expertise in multiple Google Cloud products (e.g., Compute Engine, App Engine, Cloud Storage, GKE) and broader IaaS solutions (e.g., Kubernetes, systems virtualization).
• Hands‑on experience implementing foundational cloud platforms (landing zones, IAM, VPC, networking) or data platforms.
• Strong communication skills to articulate complex technical concepts to technical and non‑technical stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

• Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Technical documentation (architecture diagrams, design specs, runbooks).
• Cloud security best practices (IAM, firewalls, encryption).
• Networking across cloud and on‑premise systems.
• Experience leading small technical teams and mentoring junior members.
• Site reliability engineering or production systems operations.
• Strong problem‑solving and innovative thinking.
• Minimum 5 years uninterrupted residency in the UK and eligibility for UK SC.
