Security Officer – National Grid – Newark
Location: Newark | Pay Rate: £12.82 per hour | Hours: 42 per week | Shifts: 4 on, 4 off (12‑hour shifts, day, night)
Job Overview
- Protect the customer’s property, people and assets by providing security services in direct accordance with the published Assignment Instructions (AI) and any subsequent changes.
- Deliver results that meet or exceed the key performance indicators and Service Level Agreement for the customer, providing a service that aids in the retention of the contract.
- Undertake additional training to ensure continuous self‑development.
Main Duties – Operations
- Ensure compliance with all policies, legal and regulatory requirements as directed by the Security Account Manager and in accordance with UK law and guidance bodies.
- Fully and satisfactorily complete all tasks and duties on site as defined within the published Assignment Instructions (AI).
- Review the published Assignment Instructions and suggest additional amendments that improve the current level of service.
- Maintain compliance with industry and statutory legislation, including holding a front‑line licence in either Security Guarding or Door Supervision, and a CCTV PSS SIA Licence, worn at all times whilst carrying out duties.
- Comply with legal obligations and safety requirements of the role.
- Follow instructions and procedures appropriately without unnecessarily challenging authority.
- Work in a systematic, methodological and orderly way.
Training
- Fully and satisfactorily complete all required competency training.
- Undertake additional training directed by the Security Account Manager to ensure continuous self‑development.
- Use technology to achieve key work objectives and develop job knowledge through continual professional development.
- Renew licence 16 weeks before expiry.
Security and Health & Safety
- Identify and report any health and safety hazards or potential hazards immediately.
- Stay alert to threats or changes within the work environment to take appropriate action and reduce the chance of disruption, loss or damage.
- Use common sense and initiative by involving others if a situation appears threatening.
- Maintain professional conduct in the face of difficult situations and challenging customers.
- Complete an accurate, detailed notebook entry after any incident, which can then be used as part of the Incident Report process.
- Keep to schedules and demonstrate commitment to Mitie and the Client.
- Ensure check calls are carried out at the allocated time slot as stipulated in the Assignment Instructions (AI).
- Call emergency services and the Communication Centre to report all incidents.
What We Are Looking For
- Previous security experience.
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor licence.
- EDBS clearance.
