Job Overview

A unique opportunity has arisen for a Newly qualified or established RMN to join the Lochaber Community Mental Health Team in the stunning rural location of Lochaber. This role offers the chance to work creatively and compassionately under the guidance of the Community Mental Health guidelines (NHS Highland), providing high‑quality support to individuals presenting with mental health difficulties, distress and crisis to A&E, Police colleagues, and GPs within the locality. The successful candidate will be skilled in mental health assessment and treatment facilitation, with excellent communication, interpersonal and time‑management skills. A strong understanding of risk assessment and the ability to formulate and deliver care plans are essential.

You will be part of a responsive, person‑centred service, delivering high‑quality mental health care. Effective multi‑disciplinary working is central to this role, and you will be expected to build strong relationships with partner agencies including Police Scotland, A&E departments, and local GPs to support safe discharge planning. Development, training and implementation of evidence‑based interventions to patients within the community will improve quality of life and levels of functioning.

The post holder will play a vital role in supporting the wider multidisciplinary team, working collaboratively to ensure safe and effective care within the community.

Working Conditions

  • Effective from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full‑time working week will be reduced from 37 to 36 hours. Part‑time hours will be adjusted on a pro‑rata basis. There will be an increase in the hourly rate to ensure that pay remains unaffected.
