The Role

Applications are invited from Registered Nurses trained in general nursing or adult nursing of the NMC Register to join our enthusiastic and innovative team within the NHS GG&C, Intensive Care Unit/High Dependency service.

We are seeking motivated individuals who strive to deliver patient‑centred care to a high standard. Successful candidates will be offered the Competency‑Based Preceptorship Programme, and on completion of this, will undertake the Critical Care Course, which is accredited by Glasgow Caledonian University.

Duration, Location, and Working Pattern

Permanent, Full‑time

Base location – Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

Shift Pattern – Rotational 12‑hour Day/Night Monday – Sunday

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care to patients with conditions ranging from single to multiorgan failure.
  • Deliver ventilatory support (invasive and noninvasive), cardiovascular support, and renal support as required.
  • Care for patients referred from tertiary specialities, including Vascular, ENT, and Renal services.
  • Deliver highquality, patientcentred nursing care.
  • Participate in the CompetencyBased Preceptorship Programme.
  • Use of patient data management system.
  • Following preceptorship, undertake the Critical Care Course accredited by Glasgow Caledonian University.
  • Organise own time and that of junior staff and learners.
  • Ensures effective day‑to‑day management of other resources, including store supplies, pharmacy and maintenance of equipment.

Knowledge, training, qualifications and/or experience required to do the job

  • Registered Nurse on the NMC Register (trained in general or adult nursing).
  • Current NMC registration (evidence required before start date).
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Enthusiasm for working within a critical care environment.
  • Motivation to deliver personcentred care to a high standard.
