Production Supervisor / Shift Production Manager / Production Leader
Salary: £47,000 – £48,000 per annum + overtime at enhanced rates (£52k – £54k potential with overtime) + up to 10% company pension (15% total from you and company) + life assurance + 25 days holiday + bank holidays + ongoing development opportunities and more.
Hours: DAYS ONLY – 6am till 6pm on a Panama style shift pattern
Location: Commute from Oxford, Abingdon, Didcot, Witney, Bicester, Banbury, Reading, Newbury, Swindon and surrounding areas
We are recruiting for an opportunity within a well‑established heavy manufacturing business. This role is for someone who thrives in a smaller team environment, enjoys ownership within a manufacturing operation, and will be the most senior person on site acting as the eyes and ears for the Plant Manager.
- Oversee production operations on shift, ensuring the safe, efficient and effective running of the manufacturing operation at all times.
- Lead and motivate Production teams to achieve production targets and KPIs.
- Drive Health & Safety standards and ensure compliance across the site.
- Manage labour resource and support operational performance.
- Lead toolbox talks, communication meetings and one‑to‑ones.
- Support continuous improvements and operational efficiencies.
- Manage production quality, output and waste reduction.
- Work closely with Maintenance Engineering and other departments.
- Support investigations, incident management and problem‑solving.
- Ensure effective communication between shifts and departments.
- Act as a key support and trusted partner to the Plant Manager.
Requirements
- Experienced leader or supervisor within Manufacturing, Production, Heavy Industry, Engineering, Warehouse, Industrial or similar environments.
- Strong people management and leadership ability.
- Excellent communication skills and confidence dealing with people at all levels.
- Able to work within a fast‑paced and demanding manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable taking responsibility and ownership on shift.
- Hands‑on, physically fit/able, and proactive approach to leadership.
- Strong problem‑solving ability and decision‑making skills.
- Experience within heavy manufacturing or industrial environments is advantageous but not essential.
- IOSH or similar Health & Safety qualifications would be beneficial.
- Experience of continuous improvements, performance management and driving standards would be advantageous.
