Job Purpose
To be the executive director responsible for all areas of finance and investment.

St Martins is undergoing an exciting diversification strategy, which utilises a wide range of investment, traditional and non-traditional, to develop new area of general needs housing, alongside our traditional work with complex mental health needs.
Key Responsibility; but not limited to
Financial strategic direction and thinking
- Form a close working relationship with the Chief Executive and all other members of the Leadership Team.
- Provide leadership to the Board’s Finance and Accounting strategy, to optimise the Association’s financial performance and strategic position.
- Work closely with the chair of the Audit and Risk Committee (ARC).
- Contribute fully to the development of strategy across all areas of the business, challenging assumptions and decision-making as appropriate and providing financial analysis and guidance on all activities, plans, targets and business drivers.
- Assist with the development of organisational business planning with respect to traditional and non-traditional forms of financing.
Finance, data and communication management
- Take overall control of the Association’s accounting function and ensure that it delivers the KPI data required by Operations both in terms of quality and regularity.
- Ensure that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth.
- Ensure the smooth operation of all relevant accounting systems.
- Oversee the monthly payroll process and ensure adequate control over all variable input and changes to standing data.
- Provide up to date management accounts and budget holder reports, providing information on any significant trends or variances.
- Work with Operational staff to assist them in meeting the financial elements of their Continuous Improvement Plan outcomes.
- Ensure corporate budgeting processes are open to all and are carried out and reviewed in an inclusive manner to strict reporting deadlines.
- Take ultimate responsibility for the company cash management and treasury policies.
- Present professional and influential annual financial statements to all stakeholders.
- Take the lead role in ensuring we achieve a clean audit report annually.
Leading a team
- Lead, develop and operationally manage the finance team.
- Achieve a reliable performance culture by developing a multi-disciplinary team skill mix.
- Stretch individual ability through a constructive annual appraisal process.
- Maintain performance focus through regular 1:1 supervision.
Manage regulation and external relationships
- Ensure that the regulatory requirements of all statutory bodies are met.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant financial legislation.
- Manage and keep under review all Association financial regulations and policies regarding capital requirements, debt, disposals and acquisitions, as appropriate.
- Establish a high level of credibility and manage strong working relationships with external parties including our Regulator, Bankers and Auditors.
