Responsibilities
- Set clear intent, direction, and operating standards for departments (farming, food processing, retail, leisure) to achieve the business plan and financial performance.
- Ensure exemplary external and internal audit and health and safety performance to drive customer and commercial outcomes.
- Own business processes and policy frameworks, leading continuous improvement to deliver lean, simple and fast operations.
- Ensure effective, planned, timely delivery for investment projects within budgeted spend.
- Translate strategy into an annual business plan, set clear financial targets, and drive performance through KPIs.
- Hold operational managers accountable for optimising delivery of their department performance, contributing to the enterprise and partners.
- Own commercial relationships with partner teams, proactively managing supply relationships and commercial terms.
- Empower and support teams to make informed decisions; set conditions for high‑performing teams through inclusivity and collaboration.
- Ensure sufficient capability and resources to support delivery, including training and development of partners.
- Build internal and external networks to stay abreast of key technology, customer requirements, market conditions, and trends to evolve propositions.
Qualifications
- Experienced leader with significant technical and operational expertise in at least one of farming, food processing, retail or leisure industries.
- Technically minded, customer‑focused and data‑insight driven with strong commercial and operational acumen.
- Experience supporting teams to embrace change, creating and developing high‑performing teams; able to attract, lead, motivate and develop top talent.
- Credibility and impact within teams and at stakeholder level; able to gain trust through strong technical judgement, communication and stakeholder management.
- Deep understanding of and commitment to partnership values; passion for doing best for the business and acting as a role model.
- Full UK driving licence.
Desirable Skills / Experience
- Track record of improving team capability to deliver efficient operational outcomes across multiple diverse departments and locations.
- Lean / Six Sigma training.
- Previous land‑based or food sector employment.
Compensation and Contract
Expected salary up to £100,000, depending on experience.
Permanent contract.
