Head of Community Coaching (CC13709) – Bath, BA2 7AY

We wish to recruit a Head of Community Coaching to develop and build upon the current Team Bath Tennis community programme. This will involve development of all club and community tennis activities including mini and junior tennis, schools and community links, student and adults coaching and holiday camps.

Team Bath Tennis sits within the Department of Sports Development and Recreation at the University of Bath. The Department manages and organises a range of activities under the University’s sports brand – Team Bath – and aspires to create a world leading multi-sport environment delivering to elite athletes, staff and students of the University and the local and regional community.  Based in the inspiring £35m Sports Training Village, the Department offers a wide range of high quality sports activities, programmes, events, services and facilities catering for all ages and abilities.

In addition, we are recognised by UK Sport as one of only eight Elite Training Centres, providing the training base for around 250 international level athletes. This is an opportunity to become part of a professional and progressive organisation at the leading edge of sport, health and fitness.

About the role

This is a combined coaching and management role. You will lead the programme both on and off court and should expect to be on court for a minimum of 18 hours per week delivering group coaching sessions. Developing and mentoring the coaching team is an important part of the role.

Principally the role needs to:

  • deliver a vibrant mini and junior development group coaching programme that attracts and retains significantly high target numbers of young players.
  • enable the progression of motivated and talented young tennis players into the hosted Regional Performance Development Centre.
  • enhance the student tennis offer collaborating positively with the student club committee.
  • increase the commercial surplus of the community tennis programmes.

About you

The ideal candidate will be a highly motivated and  experienced tennis coach with a minimum of a Level 3 qualification and experience of managing a team of coaches.

You will have a passion for working with beginners and improvers as well as developing and mentoring your team of coaches. You will be a highly organised individual who enjoys developing, communicating and delivering a clear plan. You will also have a keen appreciation of financial metrics and the importance of delivering to a budget.

There is requirement to work daytime, evening and weekends as appropriate depending on the activities delivered. This will involve Saturday mornings throughout the school term times.

An enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
