Overview
As the FP&A Manager for Gross Margin & Operations, you will serve as the primary finance business partner to the FP&A, Operations, and Supply Chain team. You will lead the end-to-end financial lifecycle of our products—from initial development and standard costing to production, logistics, and final margin analysis. Your mission is to provide the data-driven insights necessary to optimize global supply chain efficiency and protect business profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Financial Planning & Analysis
• Performance Management: Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial planning cycle for Global Operations, providing deep-dive variance analysis of actuals vs. budget for production costs, freight, and departmental expenses.
• Standard Costing Ownership: Maintain and revalue global product cost standards. Analyze global cost variances and provide forecasting for financial consolidation and gross margin management.
• Inventory & Working Capital: Oversee the financial health of inventory. Develop quarterly excess and obsolete (E&O) risk analysis and manage provisions to ensure balance sheet accuracy.
• S&OP Integration: Function as the finance lead in the monthly Sales & Operations Planning process, aligning market demand with supply chain capacity and financial targets.
Decision Support & Business Partnering
• Executive Reporting: Prepare clear, insight-driven financial presentations for senior leadership, supporting the monthly business review cadence and ad hoc strategic requests.
• Product Lifecycle Finance: Determine costs for new product introductions (NPI), evaluating them against global brand strategy and margin targets to ensure long-term profitability.
• Omnichannel Profitability: Provide cross-channel and cross-functional views of profitability across Customers, Doors, Categories, and Commercial Lines to identify growth levers.
• ROI Modeling: Build and refine ROI models for key business initiatives (supply chain automation, 3PL shifts, or sampling programs) to drive investment decisions.
Actively contribute to the automation of FP&A workflows and the development of scalable reporting tools, helping shift the team’s time toward value-added analysis and storytelling.
Financial Control & Governance
• Month-End Leadership: Manage the month-end closing process for Operations & Inventory accounts, overseeing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure a “no surprises” close.
• Cash Flow Coordination: Partner with the Accounting team to support cash planning and optimize the timing of operational spend.
• Audit & Compliance: Support FP&A during internal and external audits, ensuring all processes meet global compliance standards.
Experience & Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in finance/accounting/business
• Master, MBA or CPA preferred
• 5–7 years of progressive FP&A experience, with at least 2 years focused on Operations, Supply Chain, or Gross Margin finance in a consumer goods, beauty, retail, or fashion company
• Advanced Excel/Google sheet skills required (financial modeling, scenario analysis); experience building structured templates and executive-ready reporting packages preferred.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of standard costing, ERP systems (SAP, Microsoft Dynamics/Business Central, and/or QuickBooks), and advanced data visualization (Power BI/Tableau).
• Stakeholder Communication: Proven ability to translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-finance leaders (including Operations, Supply Chain, 3PL partners).
• Execution & Rigor: Track record of delivering high-quality, accurate work under deadline pressure; strong organizational skills and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously and re-prioritize fluidly as business needs shift.
• Genuine enthusiasm for the beauty and luxury space and an understanding of what it means to operate within a founder-led, design-driven brand.
