This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing clinical team in Medequip and be part of our Community Equipment Services (CES) for Medway. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Occupational Therapist to provide expert advice and support to prescribers, commissioners, operational staff, and the community. You will use your expert knowledge to ensure best practice within the service and help develop and deliver innovative solutions, providing a high-quality, cost effective, and efficient equipment loan service. The Role
As the Clinical Advisor / Occupational Therapist, you will work with prescribers, commissioners, suppliers, and internal clinical and operational teams to successfully deliver a person‑centred Community Equipment Service that supports individuals accessing the right equipment to support their needs at the right time. You will have extensive experience and have undertaken either management or specialist roles in your field of work. The role includes:
- Providing comprehensive, specialist support and advice to prescribers, managers and colleagues within the service to maximise the recycling of special equipment, including review and oversight of special orders.
- Providing expert advice and clinical reasoning on the supply, suitability, and procurement of equipment into and from the service.
- Working collaboratively with health & social care professionals and CES commissioners in the development of best practice for the future provision of equipment, ensuring good clinical governance and safe working practices.
- Supporting and delivering training and demonstration sessions according to the needs of the contract.
- Joint working with CES managers to ensure catalogue systems and accurate information are in place to maximise utilisation and ensure best value for money.
- The Medway Community Equipment Service is based at our depot in Rochester and you will be working alongside depot managers and staff to support the contract.
- Our national clinical team has strong peer support, CPD, induction and supervision structures in place under the management of the Head of Clinical Services.
Qualifications and experience required:
- Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy
- To be registered with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- Significant post‑qualification experience at a senior level
- Significant experience of community equipment services, particularly with “specials”.
- Solid IT skills to use Microsoft Office packages and multiple in‑house systems.
