Senior Data Scientist

Data Science, Analytics, and Technology Solutions (DATS)

IQVIA is hiring to expand our dedicated Real-World Evidence (RWE) FSP team, working fully embedded within the environment of a leading pharmaceutical client. This Data Scientist role sits within our Data Science, Analytics, and Technology Solutions (DATS) team and will play a key role in designing, implementing, and maintaining healthcare data solutions using the OHDSI and DARWIN frameworks.

Essential Functions

  • Collaborate with researchers and data scientists to understand project requirements and translate them into OHDSI/DARWIN-compatible solutions
  • Work with databases, ensuring data integrity and optimization for OHDSI-related queries and analyses
  • Perform data analyses in OHDSI-related tools like ATLAS and Prometheus or using R-Packages
  • Customize and extend OHDSI tools and applications to meet specific project needs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to OHDSI implementations
  • Stay informed about OHDSI community updates, best practices, and emerging trends in observational health data research
  • Support the growth and maintenance of the OHDSI community on the client side

Requirements

  • Proven experience with the Observational Medical Outcomes Partnership (OMOP) Common Data Model (CDM) and OHDSI related tools, such as ATLAS, ATHENA, and ACHILLES
  • Proven experience in programming languages commonly used in the OHDSI community, such as SQL, R, and Python
  • Proven experience in data management, governance, engineering, and strategy
  • Good understanding of observational study design and epidemiological concepts with an emphasis on RWE data
  • Familiarity with Machine Learning and Statistical concepts
  • A good understanding of US health payer dynamics would be advantageous
  • Solid understanding of clinical terminology such as SNOMED, ICD9/10, CPT, HCPCS, READ and healthcare data standards
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders
  • Experience developing and maintaining documentation for RWE studies and insight generation
  • Experience with data quality assessment and data validation techniques for fit for purpose
