A fantastic opportunity has become available for a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join a highly respected multidisciplinary consultancy in Winchester. This senior position is ideal for an experienced geotechnical professional looking to lead technically challenging projects, mentor junior staff, and play a key role in the continued growth of an expanding geotechnical team.

Responsibilities

• Manage a diverse portfolio of infrastructure, commercial, residential, and energy projects across the South of England, overseeing ground investigations, providing technical leadership, and contributing to business development activities.
• Lead and review geotechnical interpretative reports and foundation recommendations.
• Provide technical support and mentoring to junior engineers and geologists.
• Design foundations, retaining structures, and slope stability solutions.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Support business development and help secure new projects.
• Manage project budgets, resources, and programme delivery.

Qualifications

• A degree in Geotechnical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, or a related discipline.
• Significant consultancy experience within geotechnical engineering.
• Strong experience with ground investigation and geotechnical design.
• Chartered status or progress towards chartership (ICE or Geological Society).
• Excellent technical report writing and communication skills.
• Experience managing projects and mentoring teams.
• A full UK driving licence.
