Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer – Birmingham

We are seeking a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer to join our soon-to-be-launched Birmingham office, working closely with our established Dublin team. This is an exciting opportunity to support the growth of our new UK hub while delivering major hyperscale data centre projects across the EMEA region. The role will be initially fully remote; once the Birmingham office is operational, flexible attendance will be required as part of a hybrid working model.

About the job

As a Senior Project Electrical Design Engineer, you will work within the data centre sector, leading electrical design packages from concept through to construction. You will act as a key point of contact for clients and design teams, ensuring delivery aligns with programme, budget, and quality expectations. You will provide technical direction to support engineers and BIM technicians, working both independently and collaboratively to ensure designs are delivered in line with construction timelines while maintaining high technical and quality standards.

About you

  • Honours Degree – Chartered an advantage but not essential
  • 10 years as a Senior Engineer
  • Electrical building services design experience within Data Centre engineering projects
  • In-depth knowledge of electrical design and engineering techniques
  • Deep knowledge of ETCI, CIBSE, IEC, BS, IS, and EN Standards
  • Working knowledge of Autocad, Dialux, Amtech, and REVIT an advantage
  • Confident leading projects from concept stage to completion
  • Communicative and able to liaise with clients, architects, and project managers
  • Manage specification and design of Electrical Building Services systems for a range of projects
  • Excellent Microsoft Office skills

Your day-to-day activities

  • Lead the Electrical Services design for a range of projects
  • Design and specification of electrical services for various types of buildings and sectors
  • Produce detailed schematics
  • Develop the electrical design standards within the organisation
  • Mentor junior engineering staff
  • Provide fully detailed tender packages and monitor installation/quality on site until project completion
  • Tender report, analysis, and recommendations
  • Develop project scope with the design team/client
  • Produce budgets and reports for clients
  • Attend site visits
  • Take lead on projects with minimal input from management
