We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager – Equipment Delivery & Commissioning to support our Project Management function during a busy period and provide strong delivery leadership across complex equipment projects.
This is not a role for a textbook project manager who is heavily methodology-led. We need someone practical, commercially aware and used to managing real equipment projects in a dynamic manufacturing or engineering environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience working for an equipment manufacturer, OEM, systems integrator, automation business, machinery supplier or engineered-product company .
They should be confident managing projects from order handover through design, procurement, manufacture, documentation, customer approvals, FAT, logistics, installation, commissioning and final handover.
A key part of the role is commercial project control . The successful candidate must be comfortable reviewing contract requirements, managing customer obligations, identifying variations, controlling scope creep, protecting margin and ensuring that delays or changes are correctly communicated and documented.
Key experience we are looking for:
- Managing complex equipment or engineered systems projects
- Coordinating engineering, production, procurement, quality, logistics and site teams
- Preparing for and conducting Factory Acceptance Tests with customers
- Managing project documentation, technical submissions, approvals, actions, risks and handover packs
- Reviewing customer contracts, delivery obligations, milestones and acceptance requirements
- Identifying and managing variations, change requests and additional scope
- Protecting the business against scope creep and unmanaged customer expectations
- Managing customer delivery dates and communicating risks, delays and revised dates clearly
- Issuing timely customer notifications where delays are caused by missed milestones, late approvals, site readiness issues or other contractual dependencies
- Tracking budgets, risks, margins, costs and commercial exposure
- Working with suppliers, subcontractors and multidisciplinary technical teams
- Keeping multiple projects moving in a fast-changing operational environment
- Formal project management qualifications such as PRINCE2, PMP or APMP are not essential. Practical experience delivering complex equipment projects is much more important.
- This role would suit someone who is organised, hands-on, technically comfortable, commercially minded and able to drive progress across both internal teams and customer stakeholders.
Please contact Neil Roper if you know someone who may be suitable.
