Bus Network Planner

Overview

Role: Bus Network Planner to join the Franchising Network team within the wider Bus Franchising Directorate. This role contributes to the mayor’s pledge to bring buses back under public control, introduce simpler fares, contactless ticketing, and greener buses. The role supports West Yorkshire’s bus reform as the region transitions to a franchised bus network under local control.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance on bus services and support strategic projects, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve optimal solutions.
• Review and design new commercial and tendered bus networks as part of the Combined Authority Bus Network Review programme.
• Evaluate the impact of operator service changes, minimise negative effects, and maintain service quality.
• Develop timetables and provide estimating costs, resource requirements, and projected revenues for new and revised bus services.
• Ensure the organisation receives value for money from operators.
