Overview
As the Financial Controller, you will help ensure the efficient operation of the hotel’s finance function. Reporting to the General Manager and other departments to achieve business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Preparation of monthly management accounts including Profit and Loss Account, Balance Sheet and Cash Flow.
- Preparation of weekly financial reports, including forecasting of profits, cash and payroll.
- Assistance in the preparation of books and files for audit and declaration of VAT and payroll taxes, including compliance with payment deadlines.
- Identification of areas where value can be added, including revenue and cost opportunities.
- Income Audit – Ensuring that all sales are recorded accurately and that income metrics are tracked and analysed to promote action.
- Payroll – Highlighting/generating reports for individual departments within each property addressing problem areas. Processing payroll and ensuring that rostering, timesheet input and payment via EFT are conducted in an effective and efficient manner.
- Cash/Bank Control – Ensuring that all cash is managed and reconciled correctly and that there is a system in place for controlling the handling of cash throughout the property.
- Accounts Receivable – Ensuring that the system of recording, invoicing and chasing of payments is done effectively and that each property’s debtor is tracked and monitored periodically.
- Accounts Payable – Participate in creditor process to include monitoring of the PO system from sign-off to the matching of delivery dockets and invoices to sign off on creditor reconciliations at month end.
Requirements
- We are looking for an ambitious, confident, and professional individual with strong communication, organisational and analytical skills.
- The ideal candidate will demonstrate accounting experience, preferably in a hospitality, food & beverage environment or within the retail sector.
- The ideal candidate will be a qualified or part-qualified accountant. (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or other equivalent qualification)
- Strong Internal Control Awareness and knowledge of accounting principles and procedures.
