Overview
JR PAT Testing is expanding across the UK and we are looking for experienced PAT Engineers to join our team. Positions are self‑employed and based primarily in Chancery Lane, with the option to work part‑time or full‑time. You will be required to bring your own qualified City & Guilds 2377 certificate (or equivalent), test equipment and public liability insurance.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct portable appliance testing at a range of sites including hospitals, retail outlets and offices.
- Use approved testing instruments to check safety of electrical appliances and maintain accurate test records.
- Inform users of results, explain potential hazards and advise on repair or replacement.
- Prepare and sign completion certificates and any necessary paperwork.
- Maintain your van and testing kit in good working order and keep equipment calibrated at least once a year.
Qualifications
- City & Guilds 2377 PAT qualification or equivalent.
- Self‑employed status with valid public liability insurance.
- Current, calibrated test equipment.
- Reliable transport to travel locally (Chancery Lane or closer); long‑distance travel acceptable if clients are nearby.
- Strong organisational skills, honesty and a “can‑do” attitude.
Employment Details
Employment type: Self‑employed contractor. Working hours are flexible; you may take on part‑time or full‑time assignments. Pay is pro‑rated based on the number of tests, the type of client and job duration. Rates are discussed individually when a job is booked.
Location
Primary base: Chancery Lane, London. Commuting distance acceptable; national coverage is possible, but most work is local.
