Quality Engineer
Orbion is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineer to join our world‑class aerospace production team. The successful candidate will have prior experience managing quality‑related processes, standards and documentation in a production environment. This position will report to the Quality Manager and will support both internal and external quality efforts. Experience with configuration management systems, quality management systems, quality assurance, and AS9100/ISO‑9001 is optimal.
Responsibilities
- Lead and maintain both product and process non‑conformance handling, including the coordination of documentation, material review board investigations, and the coordination and tracking of associated corrective actions.
- Ensure the structured execution of production quality qualification activities for equipment and processes.
- Monitor and analyze quality metrics to identify trends, patterns and areas of concern, and provide reports and recommendations to management.
- Serve as the quality representative to review and analyze changes to mechanical and process specifications for the consideration of effectiveness and manufacturability.
- Support internal and external AS9100 quality audits; identify and implement corrective actions and assist in resolution of audit findings, observations, and recommendations.
- Perform periodic audits and help confirm effectiveness of quality systems.
- Implement, improve and maintain manufacturing and quality‑related documentation systems including updates required to maintain adherence to the AS9100 standard.
- Advocate for and lead continual improvement programmes through manufacturing processes, practices and procedures.
- Evaluate manufacturing and design changes or improvements to ensure quality systems and configuration management compliance.
- Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to provide quality input during the product development process, ensuring design for manufacturability, safety and reliability.
- Provide technical support to both the Quality Manager and Purchasing Manager to support quality investigations related to strategic suppliers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related discipline or an equivalent combination of education and related experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively establish positive working relationships with various operational groups, all levels of employees, suppliers, and customers.
- A solid understanding of quality controls, applicable engineering principles and business practices, with preferred experience working directly with hardware in aerospace or medical device industries.
- Ability to collaborate in a team setting as well as be an active individual contributor.
Preferred Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience with quality management systems in a highly regulated environment.
- Experience with AS‑9100/ISO‑9001 Quality Management Systems in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience with failure mode effect and analysis (FMEA) evaluation methods for both process and product.
- Good understanding of risk management processes.
