Job Description:

A global industrial manufacturer operating across critical infrastructure and engineered solutions is looking to appoint an experienced Trade Compliance Manager to lead export controls and sanctions compliance across the EMEA region.

This is a key regional role, partnering closely with engineering, supply chain, and commercial teams to ensure compliant cross-border operations while supporting business growth.

The Role

  • Act as the EMEA subject matter expert on export controls, with a focus on military and dual-use regulations across the UK and EU
  • Lead classification of controlled goods using technical specifications and engineering data
  • Advise on licensing requirements and manage export licence applications end-to-end
  • Oversee compliance relating to cross-border technology transfers and deemed exports
  • Provide sanctions guidance, including screening, escalation, and interpretation of EU/UK frameworks (with awareness of US extraterritorial reach)
  • Implement and enhance internal trade compliance policies, controls, and processes across the region
  • Deliver training to business stakeholders and support adoption of trade compliance tools
  • Support M&A activity through compliance due diligence
  • Provide input on customs-related matters, including HS classification, rules of origin, and EU import requirements

Background Required

  • Strong experience in export controls and trade compliance within a multinational, advisory, or legal environment
  • Working knowledge of UK, German and/or Dutch military controls and EU Dual-Use regulations
  • Comfortable interpreting technical documentation for classification purposes
  • Exposure to sanctions compliance frameworks and cross-border regulatory considerations
  • Familiar with trade compliance systems and tools
  • Understanding of EU customs processes and import frameworks is beneficial
  • Experience working in international, cross-functional environments
