Founding RL Researcher/ Engineer

£180,000 – £280,000 base + equity DOE
This is one of those founding-team opportunities that you can’t afford to miss. It’s at a well-funded AI research lab about to blast out of stealth mode and doing some novel work at the frontier of reinforcement learning.
They’re moving into their next phase of growth after closing funding and are already working with major frontier AI labs.
As a Founding RL Researcher, you will lead efforts to build novel algorithms and environments for training autonomous agents. You will have real influence over technical direction from day one and work directly with experienced second-time founders.
Core skills and experience required
- Strong background in reinforcement learning
- Hands-on post-training experience: RLHF etc
- Experience designing or building RL environments grounded in real-world workflows
- Distributed training at scale
- Python and PyTorch
- Experience at a top-tier AI lab or company
- A blend of theoretical depth mixed with the ability to ship production systems
- Publications at top ML conferences, nice to have
