Architectural Assistant – Not a Traditional Practice Role

Company: Grõ Careers
Apply for the Architectural Assistant – Not a Traditional Practice Role
Location: London
Job Description:

If you’re an ambitious RIBA Part II Architectural Assistant in a leading practice… you probably already know the trade-off:

Big-name studio = brilliant projects… but you can spend years supporting, not owning.

Small studio = huge responsibility… but limited scale, structure, and progression.

What if you didn’t have to choose?

This isn’t a “traditional practice” role.

This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing, design-led, medium-sized London studio entering its next stage of growth – still young, agile and non-corporate in feel, but now delivering increasingly substantial residential and mixed-use projects across London and the UK.

You’ll be put in the seat where the opportunities are.

Not just producing. Influencing. Presenting. Owning.

Founded by prominent architects with backgrounds in globally recognised design studios, the practice combines serious design pedigree with the pace, openness and responsibility of a younger studio. No heavy hierarchy. No rigid box around your title. No waiting years to be trusted.

The Work

Notable design-led residential, mixed-use and developer-led projects across London and the UK, with a growing pipeline of larger schemes.

You could be supporting schemes from early-stage design through planning, technical coordination and delivery, depending on project need and your own development.

The role offers exposure that can be incredibly difficult to access at Part II level.

And if you perform? You will be trusted with more.

Who We’re Looking For

  • An experienced RIBA Part II Architectural Assistant
  • At least 2 years of UK practice experience
  • Comfortable working on residential or mixed-use projects
  • Confident in producing strong drawings, layouts and presentation material
  • Interested in both design quality and how projects are put together
  • Proactive, low-ego and comfortable taking responsibility
  • Looking for more ownership than your current role allows
  • Keen to complete Part III with the right studio support

Software:

  • Revit experience is highly desirable
  • Rhino / SketchUp experience would also be useful
  • A strong design eye and ability to communicate ideas clearly is essential

Package

  • Competitive salary, dependent on experience
  • Part III support available
  • Four days in the studio, one day from home
  • Energetic team and strong social culture
  • Annual international studio trip
  • Relaxed, non-corporate studio environment
  • Genuine route to increased responsibility and progression

How To Apply

Send your CV to Grõ Careers via the apply button.

Shortlisted applicants will be asked to share a portfolio. Further details are shared only at the post-discovery stage.

If you’re the kind of Architectural Assistant who wants ownership, exposure and momentum, this is one of the rare roles at this level that genuinely offers it.
