Hose & Tube Assembler

My client, a growing manufacturing company based in Slough are looking to recruit a Hose & Tube Assembler on a full time, permanent basis.

Role Purpose

To assemble high-performance hoses and tube assemblies to exact specifications for motorsport and performance automotive applications, ensuring the highest standards of quality, precision, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

Assembly & Production

  • Assemble braided hoses, PTFE hoses, and rigid tube assemblies (e.g. aluminium, stainless steel)
  • Cut, clean, and prepare hose and tube materials to required lengths and tolerances
  • Install fittings, unions, and end connections according to technical drawings or build sheets
  • Perform tube bending, flaring, swaging, and forming operations using manual and powered equipment
  • Pressure test assemblies where required

Quality & Compliance

  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, job sheets, and specifications
  • Conduct visual and dimensional inspection of completed assemblies
  • Ensure all work meets company and motorsport industry quality standards
  • Maintain traceability and accurate job records

Workshop & Equipment

  • Operate workshop machinery (e.g. saws, swaging machines, crimpers, bending tools) safely
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment
  • Carry out basic maintenance of tools and equipment

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and workflow
  • Support lean manufacturing or 5S initiatives where applicable

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Assembly accuracy and right-first-time rate
  • Productivity (units per shift/day)
  • Quality defects / rework levels
  • Adherence to delivery deadlines

Person Specification

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience in mechanical assembly, fabrication, or workshop environment
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and measurements
  • Experience using hand tools and workshop machinery
  • Strong attention to detail and high-quality workmanship
  • Good manual dexterity and practical skills

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Experience with hose assembly, swaging, or tube bending
  • Motorsport, automotive, or aerospace industry background
  • Knowledge of AN/JIC fittings and fluid transfer systems
  • Experience with pressure testing or inspection processes
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Engineering / manufacturing NVQ or equivalent (preferred)
  • Apprenticeship in mechanical or manufacturing trade (preferred)

Working Environment

Hours of work are 08:30 – 17:00, Monday to Friday with 1 hour for lunch. 37.5 hours per week.

An attractive salary of £33k per annum is on offer for the right candidate. There is a lot of scope for progression and salary increases in the future.
