Role: Vehicle Mechanic / Fitter / Technician
Hours: Monday – Friday 7am – 4pm
Salary: £45,000 – £50,000 per annum, 27 days annual leave in addition to 8 public bank holidays. Pension scheme (with 8% employer contribution), Life Assurance, Private Medical Insurance, Discretionary Performance Bonus, Christmas vouchers, investment on training and more.
Location: Near Humberside Airport – Commutable from Grimsby, Barton‑upon‑Humber, Brigg, Scunthorpe, Doncaster, Immingham, Market Rasen, Gainsborough and surrounding areas.
Overview
This is a very exciting position to work for a successful and heavy plant manufacturing company offering both challenging and rewarding careers. Due to a retirement from a long‑serving member of staff, the company is now seeking a Vehicle Mechanic to join their garage, carrying out the repairs on Light Vehicles, HGVs (including Scania and Volvo), Dumpers and Tippers, as well as their fleet of trucks and cars.
You must hold a valid UK Driving Licence for this position.
Responsibilities
- Undertake mechanical diagnostics, repairs and ongoing maintenance for site vehicles.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and servicing of Light vehicles, HGVs, and mobile plant equipment (e.g. Scania & Volvo tipper, Telehandlers).
- Carry out emergency breakdown repairs across the site.
- Conduct breakdown diagnostics (RCA) and support the elimination of repeat failures.
- Execute vehicle‑specific inspections as per CMMS schedule.
- Maintain on‑site spares to optimum levels and adhere to store processes for spares utilisation and management.
Qualifications
NVQ Level 2/3 in Light Vehicle or HGV Maintenance, Mobile Plant Maintenance or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds) and proven experience in a similar role as a Mobile Plant Fitter / HGV Fitter / Technician with good knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and diesel engines.
Strong understanding of maintaining a wide range of light vehicles, HGVs, plant vehicles, including Dumpsters and Tippers.
