Highways Maintenance Operative

We are looking for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Transportation team based in Yeovil. The position is permanent, full‑time and located in Yeovil, Somerset.

We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.

Responsibilities

• Respond promptly to highway defects to ensure public safety and minimal disruption.
• Install and remove emergency traffic management signage as needed.
• Use tablet devices to maintain accurate records of work and communicate updates.
• Provide polite, helpful customer interactions to contribute to excellent customer care.
• Support winter maintenance and severe weather operations when required.

Qualifications

• Full driving licence (LGV training will be provided once business targets are met).
• A collaborative team player who enjoys working within a supportive environment.
• Reliable and takes pride in delivering high‑quality work.
• Cares about community safety and providing excellent service.
• Adaptable and comfortable working in different weather conditions.
• Transferable skills are welcome; not all boxes need to be ticked.
