QC Technician Intern (Sample Preparation or Microbiology)

Siemens Healthineers Llanberis, located at the foot of Snowdon in North Wales. We are the sole manufacturer of IMMULITE reagents, used in blood analysers to aid the diagnosis and treatment of patients.

We offer a 12‑month internship that provides hands‑on experience in a Quality Control laboratory within a global healthcare organisation. You will work in a regulated laboratory environment, supporting testing and sample preparation activities and gaining exposure to real manufacturing and quality processes used in the production of diagnostic reagents.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a regulated laboratory environment.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of samples and testing required to maintain product quality.
  • Accurately document laboratory work in line with industry and compliance requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities within the team.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across Quality Control, Manufacturing Operations, and Technical Operations.

Sample Preparation placement responsibilities

  • Support the preparation of samples for Quality Control testing, including patient samples and evaluation materials.
  • Assist with stress testing and preparation of samples across different stages of testing.
  • Ensure samples are handled and prepared in line with laboratory standards and procedures.
  • Support bioburden testing of environmental, raw material, and product samples.
  • Assist in microbiological testing processes within a regulated laboratory setting.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate student studying towards a Bachelors or Masters degree in a Biological Sciences discipline.
  • Proactive and flexible approach with good time‑management skills.
  • Confidence working in a laboratory‑based environment.
  • Experience working as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Interest in healthcare and laboratory‑based roles.

You must also have eligibility to work in the UK for the duration of the internship, starting September 2026.
