Assembly Operative (Shift Role)

Salary: £27,500 basic + 22.6% shift uplift (£33,715 total package)

Location: Near Stadhampton, Oxfordshire (commutable from Oxford, Thame, Abingdon, Didcot, Wallingford, Wheatley, Aylesbury)

Hours:

  • First 6 months (probation): Monday to Friday, 37 hours
  • Post-probation: 4 on / 4 off, 07:00 – 16:30

Due to the nature of the work, this role requires:

  • A consistent 5-year work history (with explanations for any gaps)
  • Ability to pass BPSS clearance

Please note: employment cannot begin until clearance is completed, which can take up to 4 weeks.

Assembly Operative Duties

  • Assembling aerospace components to tight tolerances
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and production documentation
  • Handling materials and components in line with strict H&S procedures
  • Carrying out self‑inspection and quality checks using precision tools
  • Updating SAP systems to track work‑in‑progress and batch data
  • Using hand tools such as torque wrenches and pliers
  • Working to detailed SOPs and manufacturing processes
  • Maintaining high standards of accuracy and consistency

What we’re looking for

  • Previous experience in a production or manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret basic engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of health & safety practices
  • Good communication skills and ability to follow detailed instructions
  • Reliable, methodical and able to work under pressure
  • Team player with a strong attention to detail
