Job Summary
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineering Technician for the East Cowes facility. The role requires familiarity with industrial paints and coatings and is suitable for candidates with aerospace manufacturing experience or related industries. Training, education and mentoring will be provided for those looking to begin a career in Materials Engineering.
Job Responsibilities
- Supporting the implementation of materials and process methods from original concept through to production.
- Deploying these processes with high process capability using GKN’s Zero Defect Manufacturing tool suite.
- Providing technical support for manufacturing development and integration for production.
- Resolving issues with vendor quality.
- Using specialist knowledge to improve efficiency, product quality and reduce non‑conforming parts.
- Monitoring production by test and audit, ensuring robust process selection, implementation and control.
- Supporting the delivery and deployment of a robust, repeatable and reliable manufacturing process that meets all requirements.
Job Qualifications
Essential
- Some previous experience working within the aerospace or similar manufacturing industry.
- A good standard of education in an engineering‑related subject (materials science qualifications ideal but not essential).
- A demonstrable desire and ability to learn and develop.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to write reports and make presentations.
- Proven ability to work and deliver under own initiative.
- Flexible and capable of working in a complex environment.
Desirable
- Understanding of sprayed coatings such as paints, or similar coatings.
- Ability to create technical documents.
- Experience in the review and development of manufacturing methods.
- Experience of lab‑based materials testing.
- Experience in an ISO9001 or NADCAP environment.
