The Role
Lead Mobile Mechanic & Fleet Technician (Site‑Based). This is a 100% mobile, site‑based role requiring full control of a diverse fleet to ensure maximum uptime of commercial vehicles, site machinery and support transport.
Fleet Managed
- Commercial HGVs – Grab lorries and hotboxes (focus on HGV chassis, PTOs and hydraulic systems).
- Site Machinery – Turchi 300 piling rigs and Sunward skid steers (hydraulic circuits and drive systems).
- Support Vehicles – Toyota Hilux 4x4s and Ford Transit vans.
- Utility & Transport – Kawasaki Mule UTVs and triple‑axle plant trailers.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform site‑based maintenance as a 100% mobile role, providing rapid diagnostics and mechanical repairs directly on project sites.
- Handle multi‑discipline repairs, including HGV air systems and braking, skid‑steer hydraulics and small engine maintenance.
- Use provided software to clear faults and tune engine performance across the fleet.
- Manage six‑weekly HGV inspections and ensure all site equipment meets strict safety and operational standards.
Requirements (Essentials)
- Strong background in mixed fleet maintenance (HGVs, light commercial vehicles and plant).
- Comfortable working in a 100% mobile capacity across various sites.
- Competent in hydraulic systems, 12 V/24 V electrical troubleshooting and diesel engine diagnostics.
- NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance or Land‑Based Service Engineering.
- Full UK driving licence required; Category C (Class 2) HGV licence highly preferred.
