Senior Accounts Assistant – Up to £45,000 per annum

The Opportunity
We are on the lookout for a Senior Accounts Assistant to join a talented finance team in Staines-upon-Thames. This is a great opportunity for an experienced finance professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and wants to play a key role in supporting the day‑to‑day operations of a growing business.
In this role, you will support the finance function by maintaining accurate financial records, assisting with month‑end processes, and contributing to financial reporting and process improvements. You will work closely with internal teams to ensure financial accuracy and help drive efficiency across the finance department.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations
- Maintain accurate financial records across purchase ledger, sales ledger, and general ledger.
- Process supplier invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and manage payment runs.
- Raise and process sales invoices while supporting the timely collection of outstanding payments.
- Perform bank reconciliations and monitor daily cash balances.
Month-End & Reporting
- Assist with month‑end close processes including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Support the preparation of monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
Controls & Compliance
- Ensure financial transactions comply with company policies and accounting standards.
- Maintain strong internal controls and assist with audit preparation.
- Support VAT returns and other statutory reporting requirements.
Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve financial processes and reporting efficiency.
- Support improvements to accounting systems and financial tools.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Work closely with internal departments to resolve finance queries.
- Provide financial support and information to management when required.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a finance or accounting role, ideally at Senior Accounts Assistant level.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial processes.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Experience using accounting or ERP systems.
- Excellent organisational and time management skills.
- AAT qualified or studying towards ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent professional qualification.
- Experience supporting month‑end and management reporting.
- Experience working in a fast‑paced or commercial business environment.
