Job overview
We are currently looking for three Finance and Contracting Assistants (student placement) to take part in our 12-month fixed term placement scheme starting September 2026. This exciting opportunity will enable students to gain one year’s practical experience within a financial environment.
The role will support the Finance Directorate in producing accurate information, analysing data and report writing, along with gaining experience in all areas of Finance. It will require excellent time management skills with the ability to work to tight deadlines. The successful applicants will have:
- GCSE Maths and English
- Experience of computer systems
- Studying towards a finance/business studies/accounting qualification at a university based in Salford or Manchester
- Have just completed their second undergraduate year at university.
A work experience plan with learning outcomes will be agreed at the start of the placement and progress against this plan will be monitored on a regular basis. Throughout the placement the university will continue to provide support for both the student and the employer where required.

Shortlisting Criteria
- GCSE Maths Achieved Grade A-C
- GCSE English Achieved Grade A-C
- Currently Studying for a degree in Finance/Accounting/Business Studies as a second year student at Salford or Manchester universities

- Experience of computer systems – spreadsheets, word, PowerPoint, outlook

- Ability to work to deadlines
- Communicates facts and ideas effectively to others in both written and spoken form – good communication skills
- Monitor and control the accurate completion of own activities.

- Good organisation and prioritisation skills
- Numerate
- To demonstrate an awareness and understanding of the factors that contribute to good health and the importance of promoting these in line with the ICB’s public health aims
- Required to concentrate when analysing data, balancing/ reconciling information to the general ledger
- Communicates confidently and assertively to senior managers, partners and customers
- Manage the expectations of others and provide accurate estimates of the time it will take to complete tasks
- Make effective decisions in areas affecting own job and uses judgement when to refer decisions to higher authority
- Gather data, identifying problems and their causes
The successful candidate will be subject to the completion of satisfactory probationary period.
