Immediate Start – Children’s Social Worker | Suffolk Council

Location: Ipswich / Bury St Edmunds (Hybrid Working)

Pay: £300 per day

Hours: 37 hours per week, 4‑day condensed week available

Contract: 3‑month with possible extension

Suffolk Council is seeking an experienced Children’s Social Worker to join the Social Care Team supporting Child in Need, Looked After Children, Child Assessment, and Support & Prevention services.

Responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload of children and families
• Undertake Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children work
• Complete assessments of risk and need
• Lead Section 47 investigations and safeguarding interventions
• Develop and implement care and support plans
• Work closely with schools, health professionals, police, and partner agencies
• Produce high‑quality assessments, reports, and court documentation
• Contribute to reflective practice and team development

Qualifications & Requirements

• Qualified Social Worker
• Social Work England registration
• Recent Children’s Social Care experience within a local authority
• Strong safeguarding and assessment experience
• Ability to manage complex caseloads effectively
• Experience within CIN, CP, LAC, Assessment or Support & Prevention teams
