Senior Social Worker – Norfolk Youth Justice Service
10608 | Secondment Opportunity / Temporary Contract for Two Years | 37 hours per week | £43,822 to £48,227 per annum | Grade K | Norwich
Our Norfolk Youth Justice Service (YJS) is a statutory multi‑agency partnership hosted within Norfolk County Council to prevent children and young people from offending whilst safeguarding their welfare, protecting the public and helping restore the damage caused to the victims of their crimes.
Role Overview
As a YJS Senior Social Worker you will:
- Hold a caseload of the most complex cases, utilising specialist skills to work with children and families and deliver positive change.
- Lead in complex situations and provide professional support to staff through guidance, co‑working, mentoring, and modelling authoritative practice.
- Line manage and support practice development within the team to improve and maintain professional standards and champion the highest professional standards.
- Work flexibly, with a clear expectation of evenings, weekends, and bank holiday coverage on a rota basis.
Qualifications
- Professional qualification in social work.
- Significant relevant experience in designing and implementing interventions that change behaviours and achieve positive outcomes.
- Knowledge of criminal justice and childcare legislation, theories, effective practice, and restorative justice principles.
- Experience managing a caseload of young people with emotional, behavioural, or offending concerns.
