What you will do

  • Undertake duty work, including screening referrals, making threshold decisions, and initiating Section 17 and Section 47 inquiries in line with the Children Act 1989
  • Complete timely and high‑quality child and family assessments, identifying risks, needs, and protective factors
  • Manage a caseload of short‑term statutory interventions, progressing cases towards appropriate services or longer‑term teams
  • Work collaboratively with multi‑agency professionals to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes

Person Specification

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Social Work or an equivalent recognised qualification
  • Evidence of continuing professional development

Registration & Compliance:

  • Registered with Social Work England
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 and 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and Care Planning, Placement, and Case Review Regulations
  • Understanding of safeguarding frameworks and risk management processes
