About the role

Ryde Neighbourhood Board’s Community Engagement Officer will work closely with the Chair and Members of the Communication and Public Engagement Committee to deliver the Board’s Community Engagement Strategy in line with the Government Pride in Place programme guidelines. The role requires a high level of independence, diplomacy, innovative thinking, problem solving, strong organisation and the ability to inspire grassroots community stakeholders to participate in Board activities.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee delivery of the Board’s Community Engagement Plan and support the implementation of its 10‑year Vision for Ryde.
  • Coordinate and facilitate engagement activities with a range of partners, stakeholders, local groups and individuals.
  • Ensure smooth delivery of the Community Engagement Strategy in accordance with relevant policies.
  • Maintain effective communication with the Isle of Wight Council’s Regeneration team and other Council departments.

Qualifications

  • Significant direct experience managing and delivering community engagement activity.
  • Strong organisational, methodical and independence skills.
  • Experience working with community stakeholders, local groups and individuals.
  • Diplomacy, innovative thinking and problem‑solving abilities.
