Overview

Job Description The National Church Institutions (NCIs) is a diverse organization supporting the Church of England’s mission and ministries. Our Belonging and Inclusion Strategy ensures everyone feels valued and included. The Facilities team maintains Church House to enable the work of all staff. As an Office Facilities Operative, you will support the Facilities Team Leader in creating a safe and well-managed environment for staff, colleagues, and visitors. This role involves managing meeting rooms, providing catering, and offering first-line technical support for AV equipment. It is a reduced-hours role, working 28 hours over a 4-day week, preferably Monday to Thursday, with the opportunity for additional hours and remuneration to cover annual leave.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line support for office services and facilities, managing requests and contractor work, and escalating issues as needed.
  • Carry out facilities duties as assigned by the Facilities Team Leader.
  • Update internal stakeholders on the progress of requested tasks.
  • Maintain reports for the Facilities Team, highlighting completed and incomplete tasks.
  • Support and deputize for the Facilities Team Leader as required.
  • Manage orders, delivery notes, and departmental invoices in a timely manner.
  • Maintain Church House stock, including stationery, refreshments, and IT supplies.
  • Ensure kitchen areas and tea points are well-stocked and accessible.
  • Assist with meeting room layout changes and catering preparation and delivery.
  • Assist with the growth and maintenance of the asset log at Church House.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the facilities sector, with a proven track record of dealing with a variety of stakeholders and administrative tasks.
  • Highly organized with the ability to prioritize within multiple projects.
  • Excellent teamwork skills, able to work effectively within a small team and a wider team environment.
  • Good numerical and IT skills, proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Confidence in escalating issues and presenting clear briefings to management.
  • Friendly and customer-focused, with a willingness to undertake small works across the building.
  • Maintains a clean and smart appearance, with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Tactful and respectful, able to adapt to various situations while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Educated to GCSE standard or equivalent, with a willingness to obtain relevant qualifications (IOSH, DSE Assessor, First Aid at Work).
  • An interest in the work and ministry of the Church of England is desirable.
