Salary: GBP14.31 – GBP16.74 per hour

Waste Management Driver – C+E licence (Public Sector)

Our public sector client is seeking an experienced and motivated Waste Management Driver to join their Operations team. This is an excellent opportunity to work within a well‑structured organisation delivering essential front‑line services to the community. Based in Antrim, this will be an initial 3-4 month contract with great likelihood of extension.

4 days out of a rolling 7 days – (1 Weekend on + 1 Weekend off)

The Role

As a Waste Resource Management Driver, you will play a key role in delivering high‑quality waste and recycling services across the borough. Duties include:

  • Provision of Waste Resource Management (WRM) Services including the collection of residual and recyclable waste from the kerbside, street cleansing, environmental cleansing, delivery of store items, and Household Recycling Centre functions in accordance with the quality standards set by the Council.
  • Supervising and supporting crew members to ensure safe, efficient operations.
  • Carrying out routine vehicle checks, maintenance, and safety reporting.
  • Assisting the public at Household Recycling Centres and maximising recycling opportunities.
  • Collecting domestic, commercial, bulky, and recyclable waste, ensuring safe handling and adherence to service standards.
  • Supporting other front‑line services during adverse weather or emergencies (e.g., gritting and snow clearance).

About You

We are looking for individuals who can work both independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and customer service skills.

  • Valid Category C & E licence.
  • Full CPC/Driver Qualification Card.
  • Minimum 2 years experience operating with a Category C1 licence.
  • Working knowledge of health & safety procedures (manual handling, reversing assistants).
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision, demonstrating initiative and reliability.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience within a waste management environment.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience driving refuse collection vehicles.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating HGV Mechanical Sweepers.
