The Role
Salary: £16,857.72 (£13.47 per hour) to £18,254.27 (£14.58 per hour) pay award pending. Contract: Permanent.
As a Service Support Officer on the Money Skills team, you will support residents to improve financial wellbeing while ensuring smooth day‑to‑day running of the Money Skills service. You will be the first point of contact for customers, respond to enquiries and provide initial advice. Your responsibilities also include budgeting support, affordability discussions, sign‑posting to services, arranging appointments, processing paperwork and invoices, maintaining records, and providing administrative assistance to the Housing Sustainability Service Manager and the Money Skills Team Leader. You will help promote the service, prepare publicity materials, newsletters and social media content, and keep information up to date across council systems.
About You (Qualifications & Experience)
You are customer‑focused, highly organised, and have experience supporting people from diverse backgrounds. You can handle sensitive situations, possess strong communication skills and maintain confidentiality and data protection compliance. You are confident with IT systems, numeracy and literacy skills, can manage multiple workloads, meet deadlines, and work independently or in a team.
You bring experience of administrative/clerical work in a busy environment, meeting and record‑keeping, and supporting managers. Experience in promotion, social media, or volunteer support is desirable.
Your attitude is positive and proactive, you take initiative, and you are committed to the Council’s values, equality and diversity principles, and to delivering a high‑quality, customer‑focused service.
Mandatory Requirements
This is a designated customer‑facing role under the fluency duty, requiring a specified level of spoken English.
The role also involves confidentiality and data protection responsibilities. Experience is advantageous.
