Senior Social Worker – Family Safeguarding

Join Bracknell Forest Council to support vulnerable children and families within a respected social care team. You will apply relational social work principles to protect children, promote family safety, and facilitate positive outcomes for children in need.

Core Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective safeguarding plans to protect children from harm.
  • Work alongside other professionals as part of a multi‑disciplinary team.
  • Manage a caseload of Child in Need, Child Protection, Care Proceedings and Children Looked After.
  • Respond to concerns through the team duty system.
  • Prioritise workload to ensure timely visits, report writing and other deadlines.
  • Participate in reflective supervision and set clear goals and intervention strategies.
  • Maintain accurate case records and comply with department policies, procedures, data protection and GDPR.
  • Support and mentor less experienced colleagues, including newly qualified social workers, family workers and social work students.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Registered with Social Work England.
  • Minimum of three years post‑qualifying experience in statutory Children’s Social Care, including child protection, public law outline and care proceedings.

Personal Qualities

  • Passionate about relational social work and committed to bettering vulnerable children’s lives.
  • Strong advocate for children, understanding their lived experiences.

Professional Requirements

  • Current UK professional registration is required.
  • This role requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check; it is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975 (Exceptions Order).

Benefits & Remuneration

£49,918 to £53,048 per year plus a £7,000 welcome payment and a 4% retention bonus after 2 years.
