Assistant Garment Technologist

The Assistant Garment Technologist role is a dynamic, hands‑on position reporting to the Senior Garment Technologist. You will work closely with Buying and Design teams to develop technical packs, manage samples, and oversee garment engineering from prototype through pre‑production, ensuring each product meets technical excellence and commercial expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Create technical specifications in PLM for first‑prototype construction, measurement specifications and size grading.
  • Work with Design and Buying to garment engineer product to the required price point.
  • Manage the sample lifecycle – fit, wearer trial and pre‑production.
  • Attend CP meetings for your area to ensure on‑time delivery of product to the consumer.
  • Own the wearer trial process: send out samples, manage surveys, and follow up for responses.
  • Oversee end‑to‑end technical product approval from prototype to PP in collaboration with cross‑functional teams and suppliers.
  • Maintain strong supplier relationships through clear communication and partnership.
  • Provide sample ordering information to support invoicing queries.
  • Resolve technical product issues with cross‑functional teams, suppliers, and mills and agree on future actions.
  • Support seasonal grading and fit reviews to improve product fit.
  • Own and schedule store visits with technical team members and create store reports for the wider product teams.
  • Support supplier accreditation to ensure correct permissions and balance risk.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of industry experience.
  • Passion for creating high‑quality, well‑fitting products that support the brand mission.
  • Educational background in pattern cutting, clothing technology or production is preferable but not essential.
  • Understanding of garment technology, with the ability to fit independently.
  • Awareness of grading rules, testing compliance and garment construction.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and ideally familiarity with PLM systems.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Experience with sportswear is preferable.
