Overview
General Maintenance Operative needed for a large well‑known Facilities Management organisation based in Bromley. The successful candidate will carry out planned and reactive maintenance on a wide variety of fabric and limited engineering assets, ensuring all activities are completed safely, timely and in accordance with the contracted output specifications, processes and procedures. This includes Legionella control and monitoring activities.

What the role entails
- Inspect and repair floors, walls, ceilings and roofs
- Inspect and repair free‑standing and fitted furniture
- Inspect, clear, and maintain drainage and gully systems
- Inspect and replace lamps and tubes
- Inspect and repair doors (including fire doors), windows and associated furniture
- Legionella duties – tap temperatures and flushing
- Painting, re‑decorating and hanging of pictures, signs and notices
- Plantroom inspections and air‑handling unit filter changes
- Reactive repairs and initial attendance for toilets, leaks and blockages
- Assist engineering staff in a wide range of duties as required
- Carry out reactive/ad‑hoc activities – first response on site and, where appropriate, take immediate action to make the area safe
- Basic general grounds maintenance tasks
Experience required
- Demonstrable experience in carpentry, painting, plumbing or flooring in a construction, repair or maintenance environment
- Good knowledge of fire‑door maintenance and inspection techniques
- Understanding of Legionella control techniques (e.g., tap flushing)
Qualifications
- Desirable: NVQ (or equivalent) in Plumbing, Carpentry or Decorative Services
