Special Educational Needs Personal Care Support Worker

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and enthusiastic Special Educational Needs Personal Care Support Worker to join our hard‑working and committed team. Our pupils have severe learning difficulties and are taught using a highly differentiated, individualized curriculum.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pupils with cognition and learning needs, including those with communication difficulties, hearing and visual impairments, behavioural needs, complex physical/medical needs and sensory processing disorders.
  • Attend relevant courses and implement new initiatives to further professional development.
  • Support the education and/or care setting in the school’s policies and procedures relevant to child protection, health and safety, and safeguarding.

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with pupils with cognition and learning needs.
  • NVQ Level 2 in Supporting Teaching & Learning or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of policies and procedures relevant to child protection and health and safety.

Working Hours

  • Monday, Tuesday and Thursday: 8.45am to 3.35pm
  • Wednesday: 8.45am to 4.05pm
  • Friday: 8.25am to 3.35pm
  • 32.5 hours per week, term time only

Location

Kemball School: a day special school for pupils aged between 3 and 19 years with cognitive and learning difficulties. The current number on roll is 224.

This position is subject to a criminal records check from the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) which will require you to disclose details of all unspent and unfiltered spent reprimands, formal warnings, cautions and convictions as part of the recruitment process. The post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974.
