Sandwell College is seeking a committed and compassionate PEP (Personal Educational Plans) Co‑ordinator to join our ESOL 16–18 department on a full‑time, fixed‑term, maternity cover basis. This rewarding role is ideal for someone passionate about supporting vulnerable and care‑experienced young people to achieve positive educational outcomes and successful futures.
The successful candidate will work closely with local authorities, schools, carers, social services, and the Virtual Schools network to provide coordinated support for learners throughout their college journey.
Responsibilities
- Identify learners in care and maintain accurate records
- Liaise with schools, social services, carers, and external agencies to support learner needs
- Coordinate and attend PEP meetings, reporting on student progress and planning next steps
- Support learners with enrolment, bursary applications, bus passes, housing paperwork, and universal credit processes
- Organise enrichment and sporting activities for learners
- Build positive relationships with stakeholders and support networks
- Support the college’s safeguarding, prevent, and inclusion strategies
- Help learners remain engaged in education and avoid becoming NEET
Essential Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Level 3 or above qualification in Social Care, Youth Work, or a related field
- GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent)
- Experience working with young people and/or care‑experienced learners
- Experience liaising with external agencies including social services
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding and CPOMS
- Excellent communication, organisational, and administrative skills
- Strong IT skills including Microsoft Word and Excel
- Ability to prioritise workload and work flexibly across multiple sites
- Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with learners and professionals
- High levels of confidentiality, integrity, and professionalism
