About The Role

Denham, Uxbridge. This role is part of Balfour Beatty’s Highways Emergency Response Team Level 0 managing and improving the M25 motorway. Responsibilities include assisting in the efficient service delivery of the M25 DBFO Network through incident response, hazard clearance, network maintenance and other tasks as required by the Line Manager.

Working Arrangements – ERT

  • Expected to work on a 4‑on, 4‑off shift pattern, rotating equally between 4 day shifts and 4 night shifts.
  • Day shifts: 05:00 to 17:00 including two 30‑minute breaks.
  • Night shifts: 17:00 to 05:00 including two 30‑minute breaks.
  • Reasonable level of travel around the M25 network and between depots.
  • Travel to meetings, training and works sites outside the normal operational area.
  • Expected to participate in out of hours call‑out rotas, e.g. winter maintenance.

What you’ll be doing

  • Undertake activities as instructed to ensure the area of responsibility is maintained.
  • Cyclical maintenance, carriageway repairs, soft estate maintenance (grassland), litter picking, sign maintenance, cleansing, safety fence repairs, boundary fence repairs, civil engineering or minor remedial building tasks (e.g. headwall repair).
  • Implement Chapter 8 compliant Traffic Management in line with CPS policies, method statements, risk assessments and industry standards.
  • Provide accurate written and verbal communication in the form of reports and records.
  • Use mobile communication/data devices to accurately input data for record purposes to form reports and business records.
  • Undertake routine vehicle checks and maintain accurate and up‑to‑date driving records in line with legislation in accordance with CPS procedures.
  • Take due care of CPS property including tablets, vehicles and radios.
  • Raise awareness of issues that may affect safe operation of the network and report these as observed.
  • Check that Traffic Management signs, equipment and materials are carried on vehicles in line with current Maintenance checklist, restock and record/report defects as appropriate.
  • Participate in winter service rota as required.
  • Attend training courses as required.

  • Support the delivery of CSUK’s sustainability activities.

Qualifications – Essential

  • UK Driving Licence, minimum category C (LGV Class 2).
  • CSCS Operative Card.

Qualifications – Desirable

  • UK Driving Licence, minimum category CE (LGV Class 1).
  • Driver Qualification Card.
  • 12AB for Static Temporary Traffic Management on High Speed Roads and All Purpose Trunk Road (APTR) network.
  • Traffic Management Foreman (TMF) qualification / Lead Traffic Management Operative (LTMO).
  • NHSS Sector 2 A/B Fencing qualification – Lead Installer Status (appointed by the CPS).
  • Appropriate lifting qualification.
  • Vehicle Marshall.
  • 12AB Impact Protection Vehicle Courses (IPV).

Essential Criteria

  • Successfully pass the security check as part of the recruitment process.
  • Successfully pass the annual driving licence check.
  • Successfully pass pre‑employment drug and alcohol test and further test upon request.
