In this role, you will support adolescents up to the age of 18, helping them develop resilience, confidence, and essential life skills within a safe and nurturing environment. The Residential Support Worker position in Colchester offers a rewarding opportunity to contribute to the well‑being and development of young people while gaining valuable experience in therapeutic child care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Establish positive, trusting relationships with residents to support their emotional and social development
  • Facilitate daily routines, including supporting education, preparing meals, and engaging in recreational activities
  • Manage challenging behaviour using de‑escalation techniques and positive behaviour support strategies
  • Maintain accurate records, including daily logs, progress reports, and incident forms
  • Ensure the home remains a safe and secure space by participating in household tasks such as cooking and cleaning
  • Work on a 2‑days‑on, 4‑days‑off rota, providing a balanced work‑life schedule while ensuring continuity of care for young people

Requirements

  • Full UK Driving Licence is strictly required for this position
  • Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check
  • A proactive, energetic attitude with a passion for being a positive role model for young people
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to engage with young people from diverse backgrounds
  • Right to work in the UK (please note, sponsorship is not available)

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Relevant qualifications in youth work, social care, or related fields
  • Experience working in a residential care setting
