The Opportunity

You’ll be providing a range of support services both in and outside of the classroom to students who have a specific inclusion and support need which will enable them to achieve and progress. We offer a large range of support to students across our college on all college sites.

Our students are at the heart of our person‑centred approach, and we support all our 120+ learning support staff to develop and embed outstanding skills and knowledge.

We are seeking specialist Learning Support Assistants to aid learners in our ESOL and Adult Basic Skills curriculum at both our outreach and college campuses, which will require the postholder to have the use of a car. Ideally, we are looking for individuals with experience in ESOL, whether as learners themselves or in a supportive role within an educational context.

Our goal is to assist 19+ learners in enhancing their English and mathematics skills, thereby facilitating their progression into Further Education and employment opportunities, you will support learners working across all academic levels from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. Learners access support for a range of Inclusion needs and key areas for 2025/2026 are with Dyslexia, Mental Health Difficulties and Autism. As an ESOL Learning Support Assistant (LSA), your role will be to assist adult learners aged 19 and older as they pursue qualifications from Entry Level 1 to Level 2. The learners in the ESOL program come from over 30 different countries. You will assist with shared group support, one‑on‑one individual support, in‑class support, out‑of‑class support, and facilitate outdoor sporting activities.

We also value practical problem solving and using your initiative in trying to make our students world a little better every day. You will be keen to work with students supporting them to access all elements of the curriculum. It is preferred that candidates have some experience working with overseas students and demonstrate empathy towards individuals for whom English is an additional language.
