About the Service

Our Outreach & Short Breaks service provides community support and/or traditional respite care for children and adults.

Community support can include long walks in the county, cinema trips, museums, swimming, chasing dinosaurs and many other activities based on the interests of the person supported.

Respite offers the person a break away from family, spending time with us relaxing, providing help with daily living chores, learning new skills and having new experiences.

We work closely with families and other support services to ensure we provide a positive and enjoyable time for each person during their time with us.

About the Role

We are looking for caring and reliable Support Workers. Your role is to help people live their best lives by following their support plans and daily routines.

What You’ll Do

  • Assist with personal care (bathing, dressing, eating)
  • Encourage activities they enjoy (swimming, hiking, arts & crafts)

What We’re Looking For

  • Inspire others with a positive attitude towards supporting vulnerable people
  • Experience with autistic people is helpful but not essential
  • Personal experience or a passion for helping others is welcome

This advert is for a full-time position at 39 hours per week.

Your working pattern in this role will require flexibility to meet the needs of the people supported and their families and will include evening and weekend working.

Possession of a driving licence (minimum one year) is preferred.

Requirements

All staff are required to have a criminal background check. In line with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) registration, successful candidates will work towards relevant qualifications.

Membership of the PVG scheme is an essential requirement of the post and the National Autistic Society will cover the cost of your application.
