- Salary: £13.95 – £14.55 per hour (depending on experience & qualifications)
- Sleep-ins: £62.64 per night
- Hours: 39 hours per week – 4 days on, 7 days off
- Location: Maer ST5
- Requirement: Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
Purpose of the Role
To provide high-quality care, support, and positive role modelling to young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs in a unique, activity-based residential setting.
About Keys Group Activity & Intervention:
This is not your typical care role. You’ll be based in aspecialist residential settingwhere you live on-site during your 4 working days (with accommodation and meals provided).
You’ll support young people aged 8–18, helping them move away from challenging situations and develop positive routines, confidence, and independence.
Our programme combines care with adventure — from climbing and kayaking to mountain biking and hiking. You’ll play a key role in transforming lives, helping young people build resilience and create lasting positive change in a supportive, close-knit environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build strong, positive relationships and provide consistent support to young people
- Act as a positive role model, promoting healthy behaviours, routines, and boundaries
- Lead and take part in outdoor activities such as climbing, kayaking, and hiking
- Support emotional wellbeing, helping young people develop resilience and coping skills
- Maintain a safe, structured, and nurturing living environment
- Work collaboratively with the team to deliver tailored care and activity plans
- Monitor progress and keep accurate, up-to-date records
- Respond calmly and effectively to challenging behaviour and crisis situations
- Follow safeguarding, health & safety, and regulatory guidelines at all times
Requirements
- Aged 21 or over with a full UK driving licence
- Able to commit to a 39-hour week, including the 4 on / 8 off shift pattern and sleep-ins
- Right to work in the UK
- Experience or strong interest in supporting young people with SEMH needs
- Confident, caring, and able to build trusting relationships
- Enthusiastic about outdoor activities and adventurous environments
- A strong team player with a positive, resilient approach
- Able to act as a role model and remain calm under pressure
