Metro Rod, based in East Kilbride, works with Equans, Amey, Aldi, Mitie, Greggs, McDonalds, Wetherspoons and many more across FM, Social Housing, Property Management, Retail, Industrial and Leisure sectors. Founded in 1983, Metro Rod and its sister company Metro Plumb are leading providers of drain clearance and maintenance services. We clear and unblock drains for more than thirty years, and our reputation for quality service and customer satisfaction is trusted by major companies and leading high street names.

Within the Waste & Water Services Division of Franchise Brands, we also operate Willow Pumps and Filta, expanding businesses focused on sewage pumps and commercial kitchen solutions. Together, these brands provide a one‑stop shop for keeping water and waste flowing.

Position

We are looking for an experienced Administrator to join our busy office based in East Kilbride. The role suits someone who has worked within a busy office environment and is ready to roll their sleeves up. The administrator will liaise daily with internal and external customers and support a small but busy engineering depot.

What does it entail?

The successful candidate will work day to day with our Engineers, helping keep them organised by scheduling work and dealing with relevant administration. This role requires confidence in working with engineers (or similar) and managing internal and external relationships. You will also cover some on‑call work, manning the phone between 5 pm and 7 pm on some weekdays and through some sporadic weekends.

What do we look for?

  • Proven experience within administration and customer service – ideally within a construction, engineering or similar blue‑collar environment
  • Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
  • Strong administration and IT skills – using Microsoft packages
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise work
  • Attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to multi‑task
  • Ability to cover some on‑call work (manning the phone between 5pm and 7pm on some weekdays and occasional weekends)
